Lucie Charbonnier: sponsorship built on shared values
Lucie Charbonnier is no ordinary sportswoman. At just 23 years of age, she already has over a decade’s involvement in top-level golf. She’s also the daughter of one of our Loycomates, which makes our partnership all the more special.
Between regularity on the courses, a passion for aviation and a university career in the USA, here’s a look back at the journey of an athlete as rigorous as she is inspiring.
A dream that starts early
Lucie was introduced to golf at an early age, with her family, plastic club in hand from the age of 3. At 5, she took her first lessons, and at 15, she joined a sports-study program in Cannes with one goal in mind: to go to the United States to combine sport and top-level studies. This early orientation testifies to a clear ambition and a determination that has never left her since.
A unique experience in the United States
At Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Lucie studies business and public relations, while distinguishing herself as a key player on her university team. Supervised by a professional staff, she progresses in a system that values both academic and athletic results.
Far from her family and native culture, she learned to juggle daily training, competitions and exams, developing a demanding personal discipline. In the space of four years, she racked up a string of performances: twenty-seven top 10 finishes, four individual victories, eight team victories including 4 collective wins at the prestigious PGA Works Collegiate Championship. A landmark tournament, synonymous with transition:
“My coach told me I had what it took to go pro. My parents were there, it was my last university tournament… A great moment.”
A unique experience in the United States
What sets Lucie apart on the courses is her consistency. Consistent, solid and adaptable, she minimizes mistakes and adapts quickly to changing conditions.
“I don’t make many mistakes or big variations. This consistency is my strength.”
A precious quality in a sport as demanding as golf, where mental and physical stability are essential for lasting performance.
Over and above her sporting achievements, these years in the United States have also strengthened her taste for teamwork. In a sport often perceived as individual, Lucie remembers the importance of team play:
“We each played our own score, but we won together. That’s what kept me going for four years.”
Surrounded by athletes from all over the world, she discovered different life paths, but similar challenges – a closeness that strengthens bonds, especially far from home. For her, these exchanges and group dynamics were as formative as the competition itself.
What next?
Having graduated and turned professional, Lucie continues to play on the circuit, while taking time to think about what’s next. Without putting unnecessary pressure on herself, she moves forward at her own pace, guided by her desires, her priorities, and the desire to preserve the balance she has built up over the years. A way of approaching top-level sport with lucidity, alignment and commitment.
Loyco and Lucie: shared values
In addition to financial support, this partnership is based on a real sharing of values. Discipline, commitment, humility: all qualities that Lucie embodies and that resonate with our corporate culture. For her, being supported by Loyco means evolving in an environment that understands the realities of sport and shares its human demands.
A philosophy of life
Rigor, patience, emotional management… For Lucie, golf is a school of life. The sport has taught her to make choices, to stay aligned, and to prioritize what’s essential.
“I know what’s important to me, what’s not.”
She embodies a generation of modern athletes, careful to combine performance and balance.
At Loyco, we are proud to accompany him in this adventure and to support his ambitions!
